Join our team of volunteers at the South Asian Women’s Community Center (SAWCC) and make a difference in the lives of women in our community!
We offer a variety of volunteer opportunities that match your interests and skills. Whether you’d like to participate in special events, help organize and clean up, or network with other organizations, there’s a role for you at SAWCC!
Here are some examples of volunteer work you can choose from:
- Teaching: give basic English classes, organize French discussion workshops, computer or arts and crafts classes.
- Special events: participate in SAWCC phone calls, help set up and clean up after programs.
- Networking: work with other organizations to strengthen community ties.
- Daycare: provide daycare for students’ children and during special events.
- Accompaniment: accompany people to specialized appointments such as hospital, immigration or welfare offices.
- Interpreting / Translation: provide language assistance to the center and its users.
- Office work: answer phone calls, update the activity calendar, manage inventory, organize and file documents.
- Computer programming: work on updating and modifying the SAWCC website and Facebook page.
- Outreaching: help distribute flyers and represent SAWCC to other organizations.
- Transportation: provide transportation services for those in need.
- Summer camp: help out during summer camp, accompany the group on outings and activities at the pool.
- Group workshops: facilitate workshops and activities for women, promoting learning and empowerment.
